Miodrag Grbic - Western University
Prof. Miodrag Grbic is an Associate Professor at Western University, Canada. He received his BS and MsC degrees at University of Novi Sad (Yugoslavia), PhD in Developmental Biology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison (USA) in 1995 and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Cambridge (UK) until 1998. He became Assistant Professor at Western University in 1998. Dr. Grbic led the first chelicerate genome sequencing project funded by the USA department of Energy and is a leader of the Genomics in Agricultural Pest Management (GAP-M) consortium, funded by Genome Canada and Ontario Research Fund focused on agricultural pest genomics. Dr. Grbic was awarded the Marie Curie visiting professor fellowship, Premier’s Research Excellence Award in 2000 (Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology Ontario Canada) and is currently Section Editor, Journal Arthropod Structure and Development.

Xavier Estivill - Centre for Genomic Regulation
Prof. Xavier Estivill graduated from Medicine in 1979 specializing in Hematology, and also obtained his doctorate in Medicine (MD) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain, 1987) and PhD form the University of London (UK, 1995) for studies on the genetics of cystic fibrosis. As Senior Group Leader at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG, Spain), he is an Associate Professor of the Pompeu Fabra University (Spain), and Director of the Genomics and Personalized Medicine section of the Quiron-Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona. Dr. Estivill directed the Genes and Disease Program of the CRG (2002-2012), the Genetics Service of the Clinic Hospital (1991-1997) and the Cancer Genetics Institute (1991-2001) in Barcelona, and was Visiting Scientist at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada (2001-2002). He has been board member of the European Society of Human Genetics, sits on the board of several human genetics journals, and is a member of several scientific advisory boards of various international institutes and funding agencies.
